A loving wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt and cherished friend of many, she was a homemaker and a retired employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish Assessors Office. She was a strongwilled lady and always independent. She dealt with much adversity in her life but was never known to be a complainer. She was 96, born Dec. 10, 1913, in Baton Rouge. She was one of 13 children born to Phillip and Antonina Lena Martellaro Marino, who preceded her in death. She was the last of the 13 to survive. She died at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical CenterBluebonnet. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Greg Daigle, celebrant. Burial In Roselawn Memorial Park. Until recently, she was sole, loving caregiver, devoted mother, and best friend to her youngest son, Russell S. Butch Lombardo, who survives her. She is also survived by her son, Anthony J. A.J. Lombardo and his spouse, Elaine Lombardo, of Port Sulphur and granddaughter, Erica Eve L. Dudley, her spouse, Josh Dudley, and greatgrandsons, Jonah and Ethan Dudley, all of Sacramento, Calif. Preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lombardo daughter, Angelina Lombardo five sisters, Josephine M. Cappo, Annie M. Muscarello, Bernice M. Cascio, Mary M. Dimaio, and Vita M. Fontana seven brothers, Lawrence, Sam, Charles, Anthony F., Joseph P., Michael P. and an infant brother. Pallbearers will be Nickle C. Dimaio, Samuel J. Marino Jr., Thomas A. LaPorte Jr., C. J. Lombardo, James Vicknair and Billy Gautreau. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Welborn, Ben Ragusa, Dr. Gerald Barber, Dr. Richard Carter, Dr. James Hatcher, Dr. O.M. Thompson, Dr. Carey Wlnder and Dr. Harris Lappin. Her children especially thank her faithful and loving caregivers of her latest years, Brenda Hebert, Patricia Tootie Vicknair, Rachelle Black, Lana Wheatley, Maria Chidester and all of the special friends and family members who have come to her aid throughout her life. She was a member of Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic Church.
