Lucretia Gunn

November 2, 1927 — February 25, 2014

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Timothy II:47. A loving mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother with a positive and thoughtful disposition, never complaining and always grateful. She was born on November 2, 1927 in Longview, TX and passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a resident of Baton Rouge for 35 years. After leaving Kilgore College, Lucretia married and moved to Louisiana in 1957 after her husband, Norman was transferred by Gulf Oil Corp. She worked parttime as a bookkeeper until she went back to college to earn her teaching certificate, in which she taught school at three different private schools. Lucretia was a lady full of goodness and a faithful member of Stevendale Baptist Church for over three decades. As a member she served her Lord in many ways, whether it was visiting the sick, writing cards for birthdays, health, and other random acts of kindness. Lucretia loved to sing, socialize, and she especially loved taking trips to the beauty parlor and attending lunches with her special friends. She loved singing and was part of the choir at church, until she no longer could physically attend. She was an avid LSU football and baseball fan. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lee and husband Don Walton of Baton Rouge, LA son, Charles Wayne and wife Wanda Gunn of Canton, TX one grandson, Shane J. and wife Nikki Walton two greatgrandsons, Ty and Bryce Walton three brothers, Dudley Meadows of Longview, TX, Wayne Meadows and Glenn Meadows of Houston, TX and numerous nieces, a nephew and many wonderful friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and those that will not forget her kind and gentle soul. Preceded in death by former husband, Norman L. Gunn parents and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Ty Walton, Bryce Walton, Donnie Kimble, Damien Kimble, Blake Kimble, Peter Crawford, Harold Hankins and Chris Baron.
