Louise King Pierce, native of Hattiesburg, Miss and resident of Baton Rouge, La, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the age of 93. She is survived by her son and daughterinlaw, John Harold Pierce and Dianne three grandchildren and their spouses, DeAnn Pierce Cataldie and Dr. Louis Cataldie, Harold A. Pierce and Sue, and William Cole Pierce and Flor and two greatgrandchildren, Michael Pierce Cataldie and Isabela Dianne Pierce. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Pierce parents, Ezreth S. and Lula McMullan King two brothers, Jack Ezreth King, and James Ottis King and one sister, Ruth King Burris. Louise was a 1939 graduate of University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Miss, with a B.S. degree and a double major in Math and English and a minor in Education. She taught school in Mississippi for two years and then went on to teach at Dutchtown High School and St. Amant High School for 21 years in Math and English. While in college, she was a member of International Relations Organization Corresponding Secretary, Art Editor of the college newspaper, The Student Printz, and a member of Hattiesburg Choral Union, Chez Nous Club, Forrest County Club, and Sophomore Cabinet Secretary and Treasurer. Her organizations included NRTA National Retired Teachers Assoc., LRTA Louisiana Retired Teachers Assoc., and ARTA Ascension Parish Retired Teachers Assoc.. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 62 years where she founded the church archives in 1989. She was also a member and past president of Dr. Ed Grant Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Church, and a member of FAS Crowd of Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included oil painting and poetry writing. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 5 pm until 7 pm and will resume on Monday, March 19, at First Presbyterian Church from 10 am until religious services at 11 am. Honorary Pallbearers are all the members of Heritage Committee of First Presbyterian Church.
