Louise Novitzky

February 18, 1919 — August 15, 2012

Louise Novitzky Aunt Lou, 93, was born 2181919 and died 8152012. A resident of Baton Rouge since 2008, she was born in Oakland and was a long time resident of Kensington, CA. She earned her nursing degree in 1941 and served in WWII as an Army nurse in northern Africa and Italy. After discharge from active duty in 1946, she continued her service in the Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of colonel in 1979. She was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Lucy Segesta, her husband of 32 years, Josef Novitzky, brother Vincent J. Segesta, and sister Marie S. Schaff. She is survived by sisterinlaw Lena T. Segesta, nieces Rosalind Segesta Fronczek and husband Frank and Lucie S. Gannuch and husband Mario Ray, all of Baton Rouge. Surviving California family members include nieces Barbara Hake, Pamela Novitzky, Terrie Novitzky, Kellie Novitzky Wood and Tracie Novitzky Dunlap. Also great nephews Chris Fronczek, Davis Hake and Nick Dunlap and great nieces Brandi Naranjo, Ashley Sustatia, and Misti Dunlap. She is also survived by longtime friends Bill Gray, Sally Harrington, and Mary DelMoro. Visiting will be on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. from 10 am until memorial service at 11 am, conducted by the Rev. Mike Schatzle. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers who offered Aunt Lou such loving care and to St. Joseph Hospice for all of their help and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice.
