Services for Ms. Louise Marie Bordelon, age 91, of Baton Rouge, will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 9:30am. Interment will be at Resthaven Garden of Memory following the service. A reception will begin at 12:00 pm in the Legacy Room at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Ms. Bordelon, a devote Catholic, died peacefully surrounded by family on August 15th, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospice, Carpenter House, Baton Rouge, after battling Parkinson’s Disease. She was the daughter of the late Jules Sr. and Nellie M. Bordelon of Bordelonville, LA. She is also preceded in death by her husband Adley L. Barbin and her two brothers, Ray Bordelon and Jules Bordelon, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, J. Christine Resweber (Eric), Zachary; Susan M. Barbin, and Eileen F. Pourciau (Mike Dietrich), Baton Rouge; her son, Robert Barbin (Aileen), Prairieville; granddaughter, Melissa M. Brocato, CO; and grandson, Damion W. Pourciau, TX; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Brocato, AZ; two great-grandsons, Justin A. Brocato (Kalyn), CO and Holden R. Pourciau, TX; a great-great-granddaughter, Lily J. Brocato, CO; and sister-in-law, Linda Bordelon, LA.
Louise’s greatest joys were her family, especially the grand and great-grandchildren. Readers Digest and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary magazine were her favorite monthly mail items to read. She also loved books and articles on the human body, the earth and universe, and many books on religion and self-help. She enjoyed music, but reading was her choice of relaxation.
She supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, in Utah. She loved cats and raised four over the years, each living their fullest life.
Pallbearers will be Damion Pourciau, Ken Bordelon, Marty Bordelon, Jacques Bordelon, Scott Bordelon, Frank Hummel. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Mooney, Holden Pourciau, and Jules K. Bordelon.
The family gives special thanks to Ms. Louise’s caregivers at St. Joseph’s Hospice and the Garden View staff of Baton Rouge, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if donations were made to either of the above organizations. We thank all who took care of Mom over the past two years.
