Louis Douglas “Dr. Doug” Diez, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the age of 75. Doug was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and attended Louisiana State University. Doug was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a retired pipefitter welder in Local Union 198 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to shoot black powder muzzleloaders. Doug was the International President of the Higher-Order of the Heliarc Welders. He helped with the design and motion of the Secret Handshake of the Higher-Order.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joecile Moran Diez; parents, Louis Joseph Diez and Stella Singleton Diez; daughter, Tricia Louise Diez; brother, Roland Wayne Diez; sister Mary Jo Diez Cormier; and step-daughters, Emilie Marie McCormick and Amy Elizabeth McCormick.
Doug is survived by his loving children, Matthew Douglas Diez and wife Jessica and Robyn Diez Crossman and husband Corey; grandchildren, Isabella Danielle Nagy, David Augustine Diez, Ada Marie Diez, Ruby Danielle Diez, Ivy Louise Diez, and step-grandson Nathan Wayne Graffia; sisters, Jackie Diez Cockrell and Patsy Diez Bastin. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
