Louanne Berry McCann, 61, of Baton Rouge, passed away, peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, April 23, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Louanne was born in Fairmont, West Virginia to George and Louise Berry, on December 1, 1954, but lived the majority of her life in Baton Rouge.
She is a graduate of Broadmoor High School and attended Louisiana State University. She was happily married to the love of her life for 41 years, Alvin "Rocky" McCann. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was kind, generous, and friendly to everyone she encountered. She was an avid lover of all animals and a die-hard LSU fan. She loved to travel and explore the world with her family.
Louanne is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin "Rocky" McCann, her mother, Louise Berry Noland and her father, George Berry.
Louanne is survived by her two children, Jason McCann and wife, Katey, and Rebecca McCann Campbell and husband, Matt; her sister, Deena Berry Albers; her mother-in-law, Rose McCann; her five special grandsons, Hunter, Jacob, Trey, Luke, and Blake; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Hunter McCann, Jacob McCann, Ronnie Rabalais, Jeremy Rabalais, David Havard, and Darrell Bryant.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, April 28 at Resthaven Funeral Home and from 8:00am-10:00am on Friday, April 29 at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am, Friday, April 29, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity that Louanne fully supported. Louanne loved and cared for every single person she encountered and always had a beautiful smile on her face. The world is a little darker now without her in it.
