Loretta Dixon Brignac

Loretta Dixon Brignac was born on July 14, 1931, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 14, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born and raised in East Baton Rouge Parish. Loretta retired from the East Baton Rouge School Transportation System as a school bus driver. She was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church and a long-time member of Istrouma Baptist Church. She served her Lord and church faithfully as a long-time Children's Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Baptist Women, Women's Mission Union, and served on the Istrouma Baptist Benevolence Committee. 

She is survived by her son, Aubrey Brignac; her daughter, Eva (David) Kelley and son-in-law Wendell Morris; grandchildren, Ginger, William "Billy", Jake (Brittany), Rhett, Chelsea (Guy), Christine (Juan Karlo), and Michael; great-grandchildren Gavin, Evie, Kaylea Jo, Sara, Everett, and Tessa. Her nieces and nephews were beloved by her as well. 

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents John L. Dixon and Bonnie Kizer Dixon, husband Herman C. Brignac, daughter Elva B. Morris, and her twelve siblings. 

The family would like to thank the staff, doctors, nurses, and Chaplain Gracie at Hospice of Baton Rouge along with the staff of Istrouma Baptist Church for visiting, praying, and caring. Special thanks to Nurse Bridget, Dione, and Crystal for their patience and care and to caregivers Veronica Williams, Carlette Burrell, Shelley Rideau, Carla Sparks, and Gertrude Coleman for their love and faithful care of our mother. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, from 10am until religious services at 11am, which will be conducted by Rev. Ron Lamb. Pallbearers will be William Morris, Jake Kelley, Rhett Kelley, Michael Brignac, Gavin Cagnolatti and Guy Sabadie. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Istrouma Baptist Church or Hospice of Baton Rouge.
