Lorene Saxton

Lorene Speed Saxton, native of Newton, MS and resident of Central, LA, passed away, Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the age of 96.

Lorene was born January 9, 1919 to Benjamin Bailey Speed and Olivia Rawson Speed. She was owner of Lorene's Beauty Shop for 40 years at the gates of LSU. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served in WWII in the Civil Air Patrol.

Lorene is survived by her daughter, Sharon Saxton LaFleur; son in law, Marshall LaFleur; daughter, Gwen Saxton Paternostro and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Michelle LaFleur Green and husband Brian, Carla Saxton Mastronicola and husband Nick, David E. Pillow, Carlo Paternostro and wife Shanell, Michael Paternostro, Lisa Paternostro Gremillion and husband Scott; 12 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Lorene is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Olivia Rawson Speed; son, Irwin Carl Saxton; daughter, Jane Saxton Pillow; twin brother Lambert Speed and all other siblings.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
