Lonnie Rogers

June 29, 1922 — September 22, 2008

Retired from the U.S. Army, he died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at his home in Gonzales. In World War II, he flew 32 missions in a B-17 over occupied France and Germany. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Friday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joel LaBauve. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Climmie Louise Chemin Rogers; daughter, Sheila Diane Rogers; parents, Francis and Eddie Rogers; sister, Agnes Rosemary Faisson; and brother, Marvin Al Rogers. Survived by his grandchildren, Dawn and David McQuiston and David Lieblong; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua and Thomas McQuiston and Dana, Lonnie and Alyssa Lieblong; and great-great-grandchild, Angelia Diane McQuiston. He was a member of St. Mark Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8147, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society and Gonzales chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4224.
