Lois Dighton

Maurine Dighton, age 79, of Baton Rouge, passed away on March 26, 2016.

Maurine was born in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma, to Doran Rufuss Smith and Frances Mae Humphreys Smith. She went to school at Vinita High School. She married Gaylon LeRoy Dighton on December 22, 1957, in Vinita, Oklahoma. She graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and worked as a homemaker and a teacher.

Maurine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gaylon Dighton; her two sons, Chris Dighton and wife, Jennifer, and Craig Dighton, and wife, Alice; her grandchildren, Joshua Dighton, Caleb Dighton, John Dighton, Emily Forbes, Calmer Dighton, and Elisabeth Dighton; and her great-grandchildren, Nate, Kate, Adele, Chloe, Felicity and Emmett.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Carolyn; and her niece, Shelly.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, Baton Rouge, from 9:30 AM until services at 11:00 AM.

Interment will take place in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
