Lloyd Dean Myers, age 83, passed away on January 15, 2023. Dean was born on November 28, 1939 to O’Neal and Minnie Myers and grew up in Melville, LA along with his nine siblings. After high school, Dean joined the Army and later served in the Air Force. After nearly a decade of service to his country, Dean was honorably discharged. After his discharge, Dean went into sales, and was able to focus on raising his three boys, Johnny, Rodney, and Larry with his first wife, Carole. After becoming a widower, Dean was lucky to meet another wonderful woman to spend the rest of his life with, Meredith, who he married on June 26th, 2010.
In his free time, Dean enjoyed gardening, working outside with his tractor, watching LSU games, and even spent some years coaching baseball. He also valued the time he spent with his church family, and he served as a Deacon at New River Baptist Church. Dean loved spending time with his sons, daughters-in-law, and all his grandchildren; gathering with them around the holidays was especially important to him. Dean was a big jokester, and everyone always had a good time when they were around him.
Dean is survived by his wife, Meredith Myers; sons: Johnny (Vicki) Myers, Rodney (Pam) Myers, and Larry Myers; siblings: Larry (Mary Lou) Myers, Roger (Lily) Myers, and Dottie Faye Howard; stepchildren: Rebecca (Frankie) Richard, Rodney (Cindi) Michelli, and Tammy (Dennis) Cullen; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O’Neal and Minnie Myers; wife, Carole Myers; siblings: John Myers, Mack Myers, Vertis Myers, Jean Adams, Florence Debetaz, and Lena Brown; and stepson, Kevin Michelli.
Dean’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Ascension Oaks Nursing and Rehab as well as the Hospice of Baton Rouge for all of the loving care they provided to Dean.
