My Father, Lloyd Louis Bourdier (Sonny) a resident of Baton Rouge passed away May 14, 2015, 9:37 pm at The Carpenter House. He was 88 years of age.
He was a World War II Navy veteran whose amphibious training and service took him to Coronado, CA, San Francisco, CA, and later to the Philippines. He always told the story of how the ship and crew survived a two day typhoon on route to Asia. He was an Ethyl Corp. employee for 38 years and was married to his wife, Doris (Dot) for 60 years. His passion was sports, especially LSU football and baseball and was filled with excitement when attending or watching the games on television. That was a tradition that started when his Father took him to the games as a child. Dad always adhered to old fashion values and gave his full attention when spending time with friends and family, as if time stood still. He was always willing to help someone out no matter what he had going on. I was always so proud of the way he lived his life. He didn't teach so much with words but by quiet examples. It was a privilege to be his Son. I will miss him, but the love and many memories I have will never pass.
He is survived by his son, Keith Bourdier; his nephews, William P. Waymire, Paul Waymire, and Joey Maggio; and his nieces, Vickie Ortego, and Sharon Perrin.
He was preceded into the afterlife by his wife, Doris Bourdier; his parents, Lloyd E. Bourdier and Helen Ohlmeyer; and his sisters, Betty Maggio and Barbara Waymire.
He will be missed by many other family members and friends who all have their special memories of the good times shared.
