Lionel Humphreys

Lionel B. Humphreys was born January 18, 1936 in Liberty, MS. He was a long time resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Lionel passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side early Saturday morning, March 25, 2017.

Lionel was a loving and kind servant of God who always remained humble. He loved his family whole heartedly and never missed an event despite his physical limitations. He had a passion for the arts and served the country he loved in the United States Army.

Lionel is preceded in death by his father, Cicero Humphreys; mother, Amalie Humphreys-Cobb; step-father, Marvin Cobb; and younger brother, William Wayne Humphreys.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Humphreys; his daughter, Rosanna Lynn Hayes and her husband Brian D. Hayes; his grandchildren, Daniel S. Hayes, Justin B. Hayes, and Courtney A. Hayes; and his great granddaughter, Ariana Lynn Hayes.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge from 5pm to 9pm on Wednesday March 29, 2017. On Thursday March 30, 2017 visiting hours will take place at Centreville Baptist Church in Centreville, MS from 10am until services at 11am. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, MS.
