Linda Domingue

September 28, 1939 — March 18, 2023

Linda Ann Waddell Domingue, age 83, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023 while surrounded by family and caregivers.

Linda was born in Orange, Texas to Robert Varnell and Thelma Lee Waddell on September 28, 1939. She graduated high school from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, Texas. Shortly after, Linda became a licensed cosmetologist in both Texas and Louisiana where she worked in numerous beauty salons and practiced her favorite pastime, talking to people. In 1961 Linda married the love of her life, Ray Domingue. In 1971 Linda and Ray moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Two years later, she gave birth to daughter Dawn, and found her true passion, cooking. She worked for Ashley Manor Catering facility, opened and managed the cafeteria at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and eventually retired from Saint Aloysius Catholic School. Upon retiring and the birth of her grandbabies Linda devoted her time to being with them daily and becoming a skilled quilter and member of Remember Me Quilt Guild. Linda was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Although she only gave birth to one child, Linda was known as Mom to many and always provided a safe refuge, words of wisdom, and chocolate chip cookies. Linda was known to have a way with words and had a saying for every occasion which always made her family laugh… “Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise” we will see her again.

Linda is survived by spouse Oray J. “Ray” Domingue, daughter Dawn Smith and husband Bryan, special niece Sandra Dial, grandchildren Brendon Smith and Brady Smith, a host of beloved family and friends, as well as her constant companion Jolee.

She was preceded in death by parents Robert Varnell and Thelma Waddell, sister Verna Waldrep, and brother Robert Darrell Waddell.
