Lillie Mae Bennett Hancock, 92, a proud resident of Baton Rouge went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born November 23, 1924 to Henry and Estella Bennett. Lillie Mae is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, James Leonard Hancock; and her parents, Henry and Estella Bennett. She is survived by her sister, Maude Corne; a son, John Dennis Hancock and wife Karen; a daughter, Sharon Wright and husband Richard; her grandchildren, Stephanie Hancock McCollister Kelleher and husband Adrian, Christopher Hancock, Karen Hancock Bush and husband Doug, and Christian Wright; and her 6 great-grandchildren, Madeline, Jason, Corey, Cooper, Emily and Michael as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lillie Mae was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. She was a homemaker who enjoyed assisting her husband with his work and traveling the country together to view the changing of the leaves during the Fall. She also had a love for music about her Savior and according to her caregivers was creative with writing her own unique lyrics to songs. Her family would like to thank her caregivers at Oakwood Manor and Landmark of Baton Rouge for their dedication to "Mrs. Lillie". Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge on Friday, September 8th, 2017 from 11:00am until funeral services at 12:00pm with graveside services to follow.
