Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Darren Ledet 1967-2018, age 50
The United States of America lost a great patriot and a defender of freedom as Lieutenant Colonel Darren Ledet passed away in his home in Baton Rouge on August 13, 2018. Colonel Ledet enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army- Louisiana National Guard in 1990, attended officer candidate school and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1993. Colonel Ledet progressed through the officer ranks and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2007. Colonel Ledet served 2 back to back combat tours in Iraq. His tours were with the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in 2004-2005 and with the 415th Military Intelligence Battalion in 2005-2006. Colonel Ledet retired from the U.S. Army in 2016. Colonel Ledet was known for his concern for others and he touched all whom he served with.
Colonel Ledet is survived by his Father, Daniel Ledet, his Mother, Nelda Ledet and his brothers, Daniel, Darryl and Dustin Ledet and Jason and Jared Montagino; his Godson Gatlin Clark; three nieces and a nephew.
The Ledet family is a home-grown patriot family of veterans with his Father (Air Force), Mother (DAR, Military Spouse and Parent) and his brothers Daniel (Army), Darryl (Marine Corps) and Dustin (Marine Corps and Army) all serving the United States of America.
There will be a memorial service with military honors for Colonel Ledet at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 2:00pm. The visitation will be from 12:00pm until the memorial service at 2:00pm. The family invites all to attend the visitation and memorial service.
Godspeed Darren, our beloved son, brother, comrade in arms and avid LSU fan. Your service to this nation is essential in the freedom we have as individuals today and more importantly the freedom we will all have as a nation tomorrow. You will be missed, for your time on this earth was marked by the tremendous impact you made in the lives of others. Colonel Darren Ledet rest in peace, thank you for your service and God bless you. Stand tall soldier, job well done!
