At 98 years old, Liem Thanh Do, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord peacefully at 3:11 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He was born on October 1st, 1924 in Binh Nhut, Long An, Viet Nam to Di Van Do and Tan Thi Tran.
Mr. Do devoted his young life to the Republic of South Vietnam as a Lt. Colonel Medical Service before 1975. Like many other military officers from the South Vietnam, he spent in the so-call “re-education camp” for more than 8 years after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Then in 1991, he immigrated to the United States with his wife and six of his eight children.
Mr. Do is survived by his wife, Ba Thi Nguyen, 87 years old, and their eight grown children: Tam Thanh Do and his wife Minh Dao Thi Tran (Viet Nam), Truc Do and her husband Tom Vu (USA), Phong Do and his wife Huong Nguyen (USA), daughter Thuy Do (USA), Hai Thanh Do and his wife Thuy Phuong Thi Nguyen (Viet Nam), Danh Thanh Do and his wife Anh Dao Ngoc Pham (USA), Tung Thanh Do and his wife Lan Huong Thi Le (USA), Lam Thanh Do and his wife Loan Phuong Thi Vo (USA). He also leaves behind his 13 grandchildren, Hong Ngoc, Ngoc Bich, Bich Ngoc, Ngoc Tram, Anna, Linda, Stack, Johnathan, Alex, Dylan, Victoria, Elizabeth, Cindy and his two great grandchildren Thao Tien, and a new born baby.
A service to celebrate Mr. Do’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Resthaven
Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM,
and the service will start at 10:00 AM followed by a burial ceremony.
