A retired bookkeeper and notary public for many years, she died Friday March 14, 2008, at the Butterfly Wing Inpatient Unit at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. She was 81, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Marksville. Arrangements for a memorial service to celebrate her life are pending. She is survived by devoted friend and companion, Wanda Sanches, Baton Rouge; nephew, Conrad Jerry Falls; nieces, Barbara St. Romain Andre, Austin, Texas, and Jennifer Falls, Baton Rouge; grandnieces, Denise Dromgold Strozewski, Brain Tree, Mass., and Casey Couvillon Colosky, South Riding, Va.; and grandnephew, Ken Dromgold, Warwick, N.Y. Preceded in death by her parents, Moise Adras and Lessie Couvillon St. Romain; three sisters, Dot Rachel St. Romain, Estelle Falls and Emmay Falls; two brothers, Burnett St. Romain and Harold St. Romain; a niece, Frankye Marie Falls; and two nephews, Lee Edward St. Romain and Gregory St. Romain. She graduated from Marksville High School, where she earned girls basketball all-state honors, and attended LSU. She enjoyed a simple, authentic life and the company of loving friends and family. She touched many lives with her wonderful sense of humor, love for life, gracious hospitality and great appreciation for even the smallest acts of kindness. Her passing leaves many saddened, but also with loving and joyful memories of a wonderfully authentic friend and loved one.
