Leo Shelby

September 8, 1918 — March 14, 2011

A retired Associate Professor for Louisiana State University and a Teacher at University High School, she passed away at the Baton Rouge General on March 14, 2011. She was 92 years old, a native of Social Hill, AR and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, March 17th from 9am until an 11am memorial service, conducted by Rev. George Haile and Rev. Alvin Hall. She is survived by her daughter and soninlaw, Charlotte and Bill Reece of Charleston, SC. son and daughterinlaw, David J. and Beverly Shelby of Ethel, LA. grandchildren, Jana Motes and husband Larry of Sommerville, SC David Shelby and wife Lea of Baton Rouge, LA Brent Reece and wife, Brandi of Alpharetta, GA and Michael Shelby and wife Hayley of Perth, Australia great grandchildren, Christian, Curtis and Shelby Motes Jessica and Jack Shelby Taylor Reece and Courtney and Connor Shelby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Shelby and two sisters. She was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and Louisiana State University. She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 60 years, many of which were at University Baptist Church, a member of DAR and numerous Bridge Groups. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70808 or to your favorite charity.
