Lennis Len Ashford, 64, a resident of Walker, died Friday, April 16, 2010, of a massive heart attack around noon doing what he loved best, working outside in his yard. He was a native of Baton Rouge and retired from the Exxon Refinery in 2005. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, April 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Donna Swarmer Ashford three sons, Warren and wife Dawn, Kevin and wife Kim, and John Ashford a daughter, Carrie Ashford Mapes and husband Harold eight grandchildren a sister, Arnell Ashford LeBlanc and brotherinlaw, Bill Swarmer and wife Janette. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Edith Ashford motherinlaw, Venia Swarmer and brotherinlaw, Ronald Swarmer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital .
