A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home. She was 96, a former resident of New Roads and a native of New Orleans. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, April 30, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Saturday, May 1, from 1 p.m. until service at 3:30 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Garden of Memory. Survived by two sons, Emile J. Bonnecaze Jr., Plano, Texas, and Eugene E. Bonnecaze, Baton Rouge two daughters and sonsinlaw, Lyn and Phil Boudreaux, Baton Rouge, and Denise and Mike Plauche, Greenwell Springs six grandchildren, Carey Rene Bonnecaze and wife Stacy, Holly Jo Rorick and husband Randy, Jason Boudreaux and wife Bonnie, Allyson Newman and husband Daniel, Michael Plauche Jr., and Trent Plauche and wife Danna seven greatgrandchildren, Rachael and Reid Rorick, Ainsley Newman, Blair, Brayden, Bryce and Bailey Plauche and sister, Evon Wise, San Jose, Calif. Preceded in death by her husband, Emile Joseph Bonnecaze Sr. parents, Edward and Evelyn Lucas and brother, Edward Lucas Jr. Pallbearers will be Phil Boudreaux, Jason Boudreaux, Mike Plauche, Michael Plauche, Trent Plauche and Daniel Newman. Leah was an artist and a former member of the Baton Rouge Guild.
