A native of Thomastown, MS, and a resident of Central, she passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2016 at the age of 85.
She loved to garden and cook fresh food for her entire family, whom enjoyed the benefits of her many home cooked meals any time they visited. She loved all her little Chihuahua dogs over the years, especially the one left to grieve for her, Peanut. He misses her so very much, as does her entire family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nena and Mike Montagnino; her daughter, Beverly Branum and her son-in-law Tracy Roland; her grandchildren, Micah Montagnino and wife Chantel, Rosemari Estave and husband Jason, Trey and Todd Holcomb, Les Sibley and Stephanie Sibley, Nicole Mayers and husband Travis, and Hexter Bennett; her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Lexi, and Logan Montagnino, Kaylen Rabalais Estave, Savanah Holcomb, Ben Holcomb, Bryanna Reames, and husband Cody, Jayde Sibley, Grant, Lane, and Drew Mayers, Cierra Bennett Gleason and husband Kevin Jr, Courtney and Caleigh Bennett; and her great-great-grandchildren Christian Holcomb, Brandon Reames, and Kynleigh Gleason.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Gertrude Payne; her husband, V.C. "Billy" Hudgins; her son, V.C. "Bubby" Hudgins, Jr.; her daughter, Cindy Roland; her son-in-law, Alvin Branum; and her best friend Ethel Stott.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Debi Allen and Polly Hilburn, her dear friends, Ashley, her nurse, and St. Joseph Hospice for their wonderful care.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 9:00 am until services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
