Laurent Troxclair

Laurent Jean Troxclair passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 9, 2015 in Baton Rouge, La. after a brief illness.

He was born November 5, 1931 in Vacherie, La. He graduated from White Castle High School and joined the United States Army, where he served in the Medical Corp. during the Korean War. He was an active member for 46 years at Our Lady of Mercy Church participating in the Men's Choir and serving as an Usher.

Laurent is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jo Troxclair; his children, Alice M. Tira, Nicholas R. Troxclair and his wife Cindi, Bonnie R. Troxclair, Ruby J. Painter and her husband, Ray, William B. Troxclair and his wife Erin; His 10 grandchildren, Joseph A. Tira, Tyler C. Troxclair, Sara L. Tira, Emma C. Painter, Kyla M. Painter, Crystal M. Henderson, Shae R. Reed, Amber R. Reed, Andrew S. Younk, and David C. Younk; and his brother, Alvin L. Troxclair. He is also survived by 2 sister-in-laws, Iris Troxclair and Clair Rita Duke and 1 brother-in-law: William Siegal, Jack Duke and wife Charlene, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Simon and Nicholas Troxclair; Father-in-Law, Roy Duke and mother-in-law, Clarice Herrington; three sisters, Mabel T. Gaspard, Marie R. Troxclair, Alma T. Siegal; his twin sister, Laurence A.Troxclair; his three brothers, Donald J. Troxclair, Roland A. Troxclair, and (infant) Stephen Troxclair.

Visitation will be held on October 12, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave, from 1:00 PM until the time of services.

Funeral Services will be held on October 12, 2015 at a 2:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

A short burial service will follow immediately afterward at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway.

He had a deep dedication to his family and spent much time restoring the family owned sugar cane plantation, St. Joseph Plantation.
