Laurence Conkerton

Laurence (Larry) John Conkerton died July 21, 2017 at Heritage Manor Nursing home in Baton Rouge. Laurence was 79 years old, born November 9, 1937 native of New Orleans and lived in Baton Rouge for 58 years where he and his beloved wife for 59 years, Sara Martrain Conkerton raised their 6 children. Laurence and Sara also have 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Laurence was retired from DOTD and EBR Clerk of Court. He attended LSU and Tulane Universities. He was a Notary Republic for many years and also worked in the fields of Real Estate and Private Investigation. Survived by his wife Sara and children and sons-in-laws, Kim Marie Dicharry and Robert Dreux Dicharry, Lauri Percy Cavell and Tim Cavell , Laurence Darryl Conkerton and partner Todd W. Jarreau, Brian David Conkerton, Lance Daniel Conkerton and Marshall Chance Bass, and his grandchildren Daniel Joseph Chatelain, Aimee Dicharry Meyer, Allison Dicharry LaBure, Dreux Dicharry Jr., Hannah Cavell Langley, Hope Cavell and Graham Cavell and his sister Ida Belle Conkerton Perschall. Preceded in death is his oldest son Joseph Louis Conkerton and his parents Louis B. Conkerton and Alvinia Mueller Conkerton, sister Fredricka Conkerton, brothers L.B and Leo Conkerton, and his mother and father in-law Joseph F. Martrain and Marie Roussa Martrain.
Funeral arrangements are schedule Tuesday July 25, at 8 am and mass at 10 am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church located 445 Marquette Ave. Baton Rouge and burial at Rest Haven Garden of Memory Funeral Home. Pall Bearers are Laurence Darryl Conkerton, Brian David Conkerton, Lance Daniel Conkerton, Robert Dreux Dicharry and Tim A. Cavell and Todd W. Jarreau. Honorary Pall Bearers are Dreux Dicharry Jr., Graham Cavell, Daniel Chatelain, and Chance Bass. Special thanks to Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers: Alzheimer's Association, NAMI, and Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center. Laurence will be missed so much by his wife and children and his many friends. We will always love and cherish our time with him.
