Launnie Ginn

Launnie Ginn, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after a yearlong battle with cancer. Launnie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Sara Campagna Ginn, his two sons and daughters in-law, Mike and Teena McCann Ginn, and Scott and Laurie Richard Ginn. Also left to cherish the memory of their "Poppa" are his four grandchildren who he adored, Alex, Blair, John Eric and Riley Ginn. Launnie is also survived by his mother-in-law, Laura Campagna; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Libby Campagna, George and Sue Campagna, and Mary and Rory Lato; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Launnie and Genevieve Ginn; a brother, Gary Ginn; a sister, Barbara Fletcher; a father-in-law, George J. Campagna; and a sister-in-law, Jo Carolyn Langlois.

He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and Louisiana State University. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a past member of both the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. He retired in 2003 after serving in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield system for 38 years with the Louisiana Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plan and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. Launnie enjoyed gardening, his Wednesday night card games and spending time at his home away from home on False River.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at St. George Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rory Lato, George Campagna, Steve Langlois, Darren Langlois, Rory Lato Jr, Dustin Campagna and Christopher Campagna. Honorary pallbearers will be Karl Denino and his Wednesday night card group.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health and New Century Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
