A retired industrial salesman and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 66 and a native of Valley City, N.D. He was a referee and worked home games at LSU, working the chains on the sidelines at Tiger Stadium. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church on Friday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Frank Bass, celebrant. Interment in St. George Catholic Church Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Ginger Polito Simon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Stanley Simon II and Stephen Joseph Stevie and Missy Simon; sister, Donna Shirley and husband Ray; brother, Ronnie H. Simon; and four grandchildren, Larry Stanley Trey Simon III, Ryan Simon, Anthony Simon and Stevie Little Toot Simon. Preceded in death by his parents, Hovey S. and Jean R. Simon; and brother, Randy Simon. Pallbearers will be Paul Moise, Richard McGraw, Joe Polito, Ronnie Polito II, Wayne Price and Ray Shirley. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Louisiana High School Referee Association. He loved being a referee for his grandsons' football games.
