Jesus will say, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. On Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, as heaven's roll call took place, Larry James Sanders, at the age of 62, answered that call and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in Converse on April 23, 1946, to Henry Sanders and Agnes Meshell Sanders. He was the youngest of seven children. He was employed by the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board as a painter and retired with 30 years of service. Survived by his wife, Bobbye S. Sanders, of Baton Rouge; son, Chad Matthew Sanders and his wife, Michelle; mother of his child, Terresa Ellis; two grandsons, Jordan and Dylan Sanders, all of Denham Springs; stepson, Tate Stafford; two sisters, Ann Sanders Strickland, of Baton Rouge and Patricia Sanders Blanchard and her husband, Louis, of St. Amant; two brothers, Billy C. Sanders Sr. and his wife Nell, and Bobby Ray Sanders and his wife Dorothy M. Sanders, all of Baton Rouge; two sisters-in-law, Norma E. Sanders, of Denham Springs, and Dorothy A. Sanders, of Baton Rouge and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Agnes Sanders; two brothers, Fred Sanders and Odis M. Sanders Sr.; brother-in-law, Wilbur Strickland; and sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Rivers Sanders. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Josh Alexander, Gerard Bloom, Mark Olson, Billy Sanders Jr., Michael Sanders and Odis Sanders Jr. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Bob Dykes. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Although Larry will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends, he will forever live in our hearts and memories.
