Larry Wayne Dickerson, age 82, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020, in his sleep. Larry was born in Dearborn, Michigan in 1937, to Alton Dickerson and Lena Wiley Dickerson. He distinguished himself in combat during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with device, 7 Air Medals, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960’s device, the Aircraft Crewman Badge, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He met his wife, Mu Kyong Yu Dickerson, in 1976 and after a whirlwind romance, married her. Larry was proud of his time working for the Louisiana Farm Bureau and was more like a jack of all trades. He could be found enjoying a quiet time at home sitting at the computer and doing research about whatever new device that caught his attention or catching up with every episode of Law & Order. He was a positive person, always encouraging those around him. He enjoyed finding the newest restaurants but was loyal to a select few. He was a millionaire at heart. Larry is survived by his wife, Mu Kyong Yu Dickerson, his daughters Michelle Dickerson Crain (born of Betty Borum Dickerson Richardson) and her husband Jimmy, Laura Dickerson Attleson (born of Mu Kyong Dickerson) and her husband Jake, and Sheila Dickerson Reid, his brothers Jimmy Dickerson and his wife, Patricia, David Dickerson and his wife Judi, and Jeff Dickerson and his wife Dona, his 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Lena Dickerson, his brother Norman, his daughter Kellie Dickerson Scott Weike (born of Betty Borum Dickerson Richardson), his son-in-law Kenneth Reid. Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday January 8, 2020 starting at 6:30 P.M. until services begin at 8:00 P.M. The family of Larry W. Dickerson wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Katherine Whittaker, Dr. Venkat Banda, Britney Wiggers, his nurse Sonya Bourgeios, and The Korean Central Church of Baton Rouge.
