Lamar Wheat

Marshall Lamar Wheat, 77, of Gonzales, LA passed away on May 25, 2017. Visitation will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 from 7 to 9pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Lamar was born in Byltheville, Arkansas on December 29, 1939. He was married to Karen on April 7, 1978; they were married just shy of 40 years. Lamar worked as a District Manager for the Kroger Company for over 25 years and then joining A&P before retiring in 2001 as a Vice President of Operations Southern Region. He spent his remaining years smoking cigars, reading books, playing golf, and keeping his yard in top condition. Lamar is survived by his wife Karen; his brothers Steve Wheat and Roger Wheat; his children Lisa Wheat and husband Jeff Lopez, Scott and Belinda Wheat, and Ricky and Leslie Garrett; his grandchildren, Katelyn and Clint Elliott and Scott Wheat Jr., and other family and friends. Lamar is preceded in death by his mother and father, Pauline and Marshall Wheat, and his brother Anthony Wheat.
