Kristen Shirley

A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at her home. She was 30. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, April 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes Wednesday in the chapel from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Kay and Frank C. Hodges Jr.; father and stepmother, Terry C. and Deborah Shirley; brother, Brandon C. Shirley; two sisters, Rachael and McCall Shirley and Victoria Charlton; three stepbrothers, Jason T. Hodges and wife Selina, Jeff M. and Justin K. Hodges; two nephews, Ethan C. and Owen R. Hodges; two aunts and uncles, Gay and Jerome Plauche and Joan and Brad McVey; seven cousins, Lisa Oubre and husband Danny, Tony Plauche and wife Shannon, Laura Pritchard and husband Keith, Jordan McVey, Claire McVey, Juliana McVey and Elyse McVey. Preceded in death by her brother, Justin C. Shirley; maternal grandparents, Emil S. and Orlene Burns; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Anne Shirley. Special thanks to the dedicateed staff of Evergreen Presbyterian Group Home. Kristen's sweet smile and angelic spirit will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She endured countless mental and physical challenges from birth and defied all odds by surviving to the age of 30.
