Kline Courtney

Kline Courtney was born on January 4, 1931, and passed away on September 12, 2015, at the age of 84.

Kline was a member of the Baton Rouge City Police Department for 30 years, retiring as a Captain. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge. He loved to wood carve, watch college football, hunt, and fish.
Kline is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jennie Leath Courtney; daughter, Minta Courtney Booker married to Rodney Booker Sr.; Two sons, Donnie Kline Courtney, Dale Courtney, married to Katie Courtney; five grandchildren, Tammy Ballard, April Ballard Hanson married to Brian Hanson, Josh Courtney married to Whitney Courtney, Kelsey Courtney, fiancé Michael Matthews Jr., Brittany Frost married to Jeffery Frost; and eight great-grandchildren, Cade Cassels, Courtney Ballard, Greyson Hanson, George Evans Courtney, Benjamin Courtney, John Kline Courtney, Thomas Courtney, and Kinsley Paige Frost; and one brother, Alvin Earl Courtney.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie R. and Henrietta Courtney; and a brother E.J. Courtney.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 10:00 AM until the time of services. A masonic service will be held at 11:00 AM.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers are John Taylor, John Welborn, Pete Petersen, and Buddy Foureaux.
