Dr. Kirby Adams Perry, age 65, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on April 20, 2023. He was born on June 21, 1957, in New Orleans, LA. Kirby attended LSU in Baton Rouge for his undergraduate, and later earned his doctorate at LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, Kirby was playing in a band, and Rhonda attended one of the shows. He immediately caught her eye, and they have been together ever since.
After Kirby finished school, he and Rhonda moved to Baton Rouge where he had received a job offer. They were married on May 26, 1983. Kirby was a very creative and artistic man, and he was able to hand craft their wedding rings using the knowledge he had from creating gold fillings for teeth at work. Kirby was known for his great sense of humor and he and Rhonda had so much fun together during their 40 years of marriage.
Kirby’s love for music was a lifelong passion, and he especially enjoyed playing the guitar and bass. He also spent time building guitars, woodworking, and gardening. “The Who” was Kirby’s favorite band, he was even given a bust of Pete Townshend as a third anniversary gift that he kept on his piano. Kirby’s family considered him a “superman” who was able to do it all. Helping people in need was important to him. He went on multiple missions to Belize and Nicaragua to provide dental care those who didn’t have access to it and set aside one day a month in Baton Rouge to do dental work for people with special needs. He also managed to keep up with his hobbies as well as always being there for his wife and kids.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Mary Perry. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda A. Perry; daughter, Julia (Daniel) Reed; son, William “Billy” Perry; sisters, Linda Harris and Elizabeth “Tootie” Perry; brother, Jerry “Buddy” Perry; and grandchildren: Olive, Lucy, Grayson, and Dayna.
