Kent David Tortorich, a Baton Rouge native and Plaquemine resident, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020, after a battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 65.
Kent was born on August 16, 1955, in Columbus, Georgia. He loved to travel and, in 2019, visited several villages in Italy, where he was able to trace and document his family’s heritage. Kent also loved music. He had been a member of several bands, and continued throughout his life to play and write music. Above all, he loved and doted on his two daughters, Heather Blanchard and Hollie Durgapersad.
He is survived by his mother, Mary “Jackie” Tortorich; two brothers, Mark and Donald Tortorich; his sister, Jeanita Tortorich; his daughters, Heather Blanchard (Kevin) and Hollie Durgapersad (Rishi “Clyde”); and five grandchildren, Lillian, Celeste and Audrey Blanchard, as well as Jagan and Jaxon Durgapersad. He is proceeded in death by his father, Frank Anthony Tortorich. His family will always cherish the many memories they shared with him.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14: 1-3
