Kelso "Kelly" Clinton Brooks, Jr. passed away on his 70th birthday, Monday, July 10, 2017 at Landmark of Baton Rouge after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Kelly was born in 1947 in Ft. Smith, AR, and grew up in Hot Springs, AR. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1971. He had a successful career as a chemical engineer working for Columbian Chemicals in St. Louis, MO, Trenton, NJ, Monroe, LA, and Franklin, LA, and Tor Minerals in Corpus Christi, TX. After retirement, he moved to Baton Rouge, LA, in 2004.
Kelly's interests included cooking, traveling, gardening, boating and water skiing, fishing, playing cards, coin collecting, and watching sports. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family at Oaklawn in Hot Springs, AR, watching the horse races.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Clinton Brooks and his wife, Spring Brooks, and their two children Olivia and Patrick of Baton Rouge, LA; his daughter, Stephanie Corliss and her husband, Scott Corliss, and their three children Avery, Calleigh, and Wesley of Austin, TX; his sister and her spouse, Martha and Danny Kimberlin of Paris, TN; sister Mary Ann Lefmann of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous neices and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2017. The funeral service will be held at St. George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge at 11 am Friday, July 14, 2017, followed by the burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
