Keith Read Bergeron passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a single dad, he raised his children in Zachary Louisiana before eventually settling in New Orleans to spend his golden years. He attended Southeastern University, where he planned to earn his degree in physical education. His plans changed after one particularly long night out, when he and his college friend decided to join the Marine Corps. Upon realizing what he’d signed up for the next morning, he decided to stay the course and spent two years proudly serving as an active-duty Marine. He was deployed to Vietnam, where he earned three service medals, a Purple Heart, and the rank of Lance Corporal.
Upon returning home, Keith started his career at Dow Chemical. He fathered three beautiful children, and showed them immense love, for which they are forever grateful. In October of 1983 he gave his life to the Lord. Keith loved to play golf, and when a golf course was built on the property behind his home in Zachary, Louisiana, he picked up a new hobby of collecting lost golf balls. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing with his son, watching westerns and his beloved LSU Tigers (Geaux Tigers!), and most importantly spending time with his family.
Keith is preceded in death by his father, Easton “Ex” Bergeron.
He is survived by his children, Kristi Pierson and husband Shawn, Mickey Bergeron and wife Rebekah, and Jordan Bergeron; his mother Barbara Bergeron; his sisters Roxanne Bergeron, Janet Eckart and husband Delton; his brother David Bergeron and wife Melanie; and his grandchildren Alexandra Pierson and fiancé Grant Hartzog, and Paden Bergeron.
The “Read” legacy has been a part of this family for many years. Started by Harry Hill, the name has been passed from generation to generation including Keith Read, Mickey Read, Alexandra Read, and Paden Read. We plan to pass this name on for many more generations to come.
