Katie Cox Reid was a resident of Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Center in Baton Rouge until failing health required her to move to Ascension Oaks Nursing Home in Gonzales. She died on July 14, 2016.
She was born in Slaughter, LA on September 15,1919. Mrs. Reid was a registered nurse and was retired from The Baton Rouge Clinic. She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
Visitation at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816, Monday, July 18, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Reverend Ken Carroll will officiate. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Survived by two sons and daughters-in law, Kenneth Reid and wife Sharon, Colleyville, TX, and John Reid and wife Karen, Danville, CA; two daughters and sons-in-law, D'Juana Moreno and husband Paul, Fairhope, AL and Kathryn Martin and husband David, Gonzales, LA; four grandchildren and spouse, Vicki Reid, John Taylor Reid, Delaney Reid and Chris Martin and wife Caroline; four greatgrandchildren, Emily Martin, Abby Martin, Jack Martin and Lucy Martin; sister Helen Cox Flowers; brother, Morris C. Cox and wife Dora Lou; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Reid; parents, George Ira and Ida Barksdale Cox; sister, Myrtle Cox Morgan; brothers, Floyd Leo Cox, Jessie Clarence Cox, Henry L. Cox, Sr., and Ira LeRoy Cox; and grandson, Stephen Reid.
