Kathleen Waltman

Kathleen Marie Kehl Waltman passed quietly in her sleep at her home on January 8, 2022, having spent the day surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Waltman, her father Charles Welsch Kehl, her mother Katherine Bultman Kehl, her sister Marguerite Kehl Pickering, her brother Bert Allen, son-in-law Richard O’Brien, and grandson-in-law Josh Perry.

After pursuing her love of music at Newcomb College in New Orleans, she married the love of her life on July 20, 1957. Bob Waltman managed to move her from the city she loved to her new home of Baton Rouge. She thrived in her new home, joining many clubs, and raising three children.

She is survived by her children, Robert “REW” Edward Waltman, Jr. (Svend Chaffin Waltman), Katherine Ebba Waltman O’Brien (Richard O’Brien), and Charles Erik Waltman (Wynne Day Waltman). She is survived by her grandchildren, Robert Edward Waltman, III (Ashley Michel Waltman), Katherine Kehl Waltman, Carrol Alexander “Alex” Waltman (Samantha Noggerath Waltman), Lela Elizabeth “Betsy” Waltman Reiprecht (T.J. Reiprecht), Kathleen Jordan O’Brien Grob (Michael Grob), Bonnie Colleen O’Brien Scioneaux (Seth Scioneaux), Megan Elizabeth Waltman Perry (Josh Perry), and Jordan Catherine Waltman. She is survived by her great grandchildren Piper Svend Waltman, Robert Edward “Robbie” Waltman, IV, Noelle Antoinette Perry, and Tanner James Waltman.

She gave her time and talents, sharing her love of history, and gift at flower arranging as a member of many groups and clubs, Delta Zeta Sorority, Trianon, Lake Sherwood Garden Club, Sherwood Forest Garden Club, Lagniappe, Woman’s Club of Baton Rouge, Dames of the Magna Carta, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of the American Revolution, Krewe of Romany, and several others.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until Memorial Service at 3: 00 p.m.
