Katherine Carmena

Katherine (Kat) Carmena died May 31, 2018, at home with family in attendance. She was 90 years old and resided in Baton Rouge her entire life. Kat was a wife, and mother who raised four children alongside her devoted husband. She was a homemaker and in that she excelled. Family, friends and guests felt quite at home while visiting with Kat. Her diminutive frame belied the strength and determination within. Kat will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her parents Marie Daigle Bennett and Thomas Bennett; sisters, Marion Hidalgo and Minnie Courtney. She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Lawrence (Larry) Carmena; children, Cindy Hughes, Mike Carmena and wife Monica, Susan Hernandez, David Carmena and wife Kayren; grandchildren, Wendy Terry, Wayne Jarreau Jr., Brad and Blaine Carmena, Steven and Larry Tullier, Brenda Lefebure, Kim Ellis, and Nick Carmena; numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on June 2, 2018, at Resthaven Garden of Memories beginning at 1:00PM with funeral services at 2:00. Pallbearers will be Wayne Jarreau Jr, Brad and Blaine Carmena, Steven and Larry Tullier, and Nick Carmena. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Baton Rouge or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
