Karol Guidry

Karol Jane Nuttall Guidry, age 80, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away surrounded by her family April 1, 2022. Karol was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Fredrick Nuttall and Olivia Fernandes Nuttall. Karol is predeceased by her husband, Liney Guidry, and brother, Robin Nuttall.  Karol was a graduate of LaGrange College of LaGrange, GA. After graduating, Karol moved to Indian Head, MD where she met the love of her life, Liney Guidry, a Cajun from Cecilia, LA.  He made a gumbo; she enjoyed a bowl and together they fell in love! They married and started their family in Washington, DC, before moving to Baton Rouge. Liney’s career took them to Jamaica, then New Orleans before settling back in Baton Rouge.  She was a Master Gardner and belonged to many garden clubs.  She also loved quilting which was an extension of her love, each piece of material hand chosen and applied with that person in her heart until the quilt was complete. She was an LSU fan and passionately cheered on her Tigers. She volunteered at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, sitting with patients, and lifting their spirits. She also organized card displays for Hallmark, the perfect position for spreading her joy!  She was the luckiest person ever, if she gambled or bought a chance ticket – she won every time. Her smile was contagious and if she gave you the “OK” sign, you were golden. She shared her love and generosity with every person she met and was truly one of a kind. Karol is survived by her children and their spouses, Theresa Guidry Johnson and Bruce Johnson, Pamela Guidry Tennyson and Richard Tennyson and Steven Ross Guidry and Darlene Gremillion Guidry; grandchildren and spouses Ross and Stephanie Doran, Amanda Doran, Devin Guidry, David and Alicia Guidry, Derek Guidry, Darin Guidry and Danie Guidry and great grandchildren John Ross Doran, Caroline Doran, and Cecilia Guidry.  Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson HWY, in Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 1:30 p.m.. The Memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a reception following.  Pallbearers will be Steven Guidry, Richard Tennyson, Bruce Johnson, Ross Doran, Amanda Doran, Devin Guidry, David Guidry, Derek Guidry, Darin Guidry and Danie Guidry. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to a charity of choice.
