A resident of Zachary, she passed away at 11 a.m., Sunday, July 10, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 52 and a native of Baton Rouge. She was a 1976 graduate of Redemptorist High School and a proud cocaptain of the Redemptorist Wolfette Dance Team. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and her strong faith and love of God was evident in her everyday life and especially as she shared her radiant smile and uplifting words with the many friends she met at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center during her courageous fight with cancer. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Wednesday, July 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. and visiting on Thursday, from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Lamar Partin C.Ss.R. Burial in the mausoleum at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years Joseph D. Samson Jr. father and mother, Jim and Verna Theriot, Baton Rouge, daughter, Nicole Samson Snelling and her husband, Jeramie, of Riverview, Fla son, Adam Joseph Samson, of Hurricane, W.Va. a granddaughter, Tayler Renee Snelling, of Riverview sister, Cheryl Theriot Moore and husband, Randy, and their three children, Caitlin, Austin and Taylor, all of Gonzales an aunt, Joyce Theriot, of Baton Rouge, and two uncles, Jack Paille, of Baton Rouge and Edward Paille of California. She was preceded in death by her fatherinlaw, Joseph D. Samson Sr. Karen will be greatly missed by her motherinlaw, Velma B. Samson, of Prairieville and by her three sistersinlaw, Diane Samson Triche, of Carencro, Lillian Samson Guitreau, of Prairieville, and Janet Samson Lorena, of Port Allen, to whom Karen was more like a sister than a sisterinlaw. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, especially Lana LeGlue, and by all who knew and loved her. She was a devoted wife and a great mother to her two children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her granddaughter, Tayler. She was an amazing cook and took pleasure in preparing meals for her family. Her interests included all of the home arts, traveling, jogging, enjoying her dog Sadie and bowling. She was also an avid LSU Tiger fan. Pallbearers will be Adam Joseph Samson, Charles Triche IV, Richard Guitreau, Tony Lorena, Dwayne Flynn and Ronnie Paille.
