Julia Chidester Leibenguth Jacobson, age 93, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015.
Julia was one of the eight children of Ben & Mary Chidester. She was born on October 26, 1921, along with her twin brother, Julius. Julia attended Baton Rouge Business College after graduating from Istrouma High School in 1939. She worked at LSU Reveille following college and married Leslie Leibenguth in 1942. Julia and Leslie had three sons together. She later married Donald Jacobson in 1970. She enjoyed repairing antique ceramic dolls and she had a major role in producing a book of descendants of Thomas Turner Bennett.
Julia is survived by her three sons, Leslie W. Leibenguth of Fernwood, MS, Collins Leibenguth (Marilyn) of Denham Springs, LA, and John Leibenguth (Beverly) of Cedar Creek, TX; five grandchildren, Leslie W. Leibenguth, III (Trey), Brooke Leibenguth Delcambre (Judd), Kyle Leibenguth (Lauren), Chase Leibenguth, and Mark Leibenguth (Jenny); seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Evan, Madeline, Kyle Jr., Mason, Kellen, and Dominque; and sister, Ollie Chidester Purvis.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie Leibenguth; her second husband, Donald Jacobson; and her parents, Ben & Mary Chidester.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, September 7, 2015, from 8:00 AM until the time of services.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.
Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
