Judy Mclane

April 2, 1943 — May 21, 2008

No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9. She had been the solid rock of our family. There are no words to express how much this wonderful lady will be missed in our lives, but knowing she is now in complete peace and living with our Lord and savior helps to ease our sadness. A proud Texan, she was born on April 2, 1943. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Wesley McLane, to whom she had been dedicated for the last 48 years. She lost her short battle with pancreatic cancer at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, and went to be with Jesus. She was a wonderful, dedicated mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She loved her family and stayed involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She had been affectionately known as Mimi since her first grandchild was born. Anything her family needed in this life they knew Mimi would help them with. For the last 35 years, she had been an avid pilot, flight instructor and member of the 99's, a women's flying association. Many of her closest friends were fellow pilots. She was a member of Healing Place Church and felt very blessed to have found such a wonderful, spirit-filled church. She loved nothing better than to have her entire family at church on Sunday mornings. She is survived by her husband, who was the love of her life, Wesley McLane; mother, Ollie Horger, sister, Mary Richards, and brother, Charles Horger, all of Jasper, Texas. Also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy McLane Smith and Dr. Lionel L. Smith; son, Rusty McLane; daughter-in-law, Daphne Womack; and her grandchildren, Brandon Bourgeois, Alex McLane, Barkley Booker, Avery Smith, Keaton Smith and Darby DiMaggio. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Horger, who was waiting to greet her at the gates of heaven. Memorial service at Healing Place Church on Highland Road on Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral and burial in Jasper. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
