Judy Fate Hammonds Barbay, age 68, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on March 12, 2022.
Traveling was one of her passions. She has been around the world on numerous trips. Another passion that she had was artistic painting. She loved attending the painting seminars that different artists had.
Judy graduated Lee High School in Baton Rouge, LSU Masters in Speech Pathology, and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She married Glenn Barbay in 1983.
She was a charter member of St. John United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women’s organization. She served as president of UMW several times, and worked on several committees in the church. She served on six mission trips to India, as well as served on a mission trip to Mexico.
Judy is survived by her husband, Glenn Barbay; sons, David Barbay and his fiancé, Rebecca Garcia, and Scott Barbay and his wife, Nikki Coleman Barbay; sister, Gloria Mashon; brothers, Mark Hammonds and his wife, Mary Jo Hammonds, and Dale Hammonds and his wife, Janet Hammonds. She is also survived by four wonderful grandsons.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Hammonds; mother, Mary Frances Hammonds; and grandsons, Grayson and Cole.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, beginning at 8:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
