Judith Anitta Lyn Lee (Mrs. Judy, Po Po), age 79, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away from a stroke on Monday, August 12, 2024. She joined her beloved husband Tony Lee who sadly passed away last year. She was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica on September 18, 1944, to parents Lyn On Chong, and Mariann Chang. She was born into a large Chinese Jamaican family, the youngest of 13 children. She graduated from St. Hugh’s In Kingston, Jamaica with a degree equivalent to completion of high school plus two years of college. Judith married Tony Lee on April 16th, 1967, and had three sons together in Jamaica before migrating to Canada in 1976, then Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1979. They established Tony Lee Auto Technicians, Inc. which they owned and managed for 36 years until 2022. They enjoyed a successful marriage and partnership which lasted 56 years and will continue with their passing.
Judith was very artistic and thoughtful. An avid gardener, she was constantly tending to her flowers, landscaping, and was often receiving compliments and praise from neighbors and friends for her creations both at her residences, and the shop she owned with her husband. She loved to cook and made many amazing dishes from Chinese to Jamaican to Cajun recipes which she generously shared with family and friends. She enjoyed classical music and would play Chopin on the piano for herself. And if you were lucky, you could hear her play piano at home because she was too shy to play in front of an audience. She loved crossword puzzles and kept receiving the “real paper” newspaper so she could continue enjoying that hobby even when technology made it obsolete.
While she was helping her husband Tony establish and manage Tony Lee Auto Tech., Inc. She was also working as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Po Po). Judith was always considerate, honest, generous, with a sense of humor that matched her husband, Tony’s. Their biggest joy in life was enjoying each other’s company.
She is survived by her three sons Gordon (Stephanie), Martin, and Brandon; siblings Cherry Chan (Lloyd dec.), and Elinor Lee (Dr. Thompson Lee); grandchildren Zephyr, Cody, and Saphyre; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Judith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony, five sisters, and five brothers. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Resthaven, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge Louisiana 70816. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
