Joyce Schilling

Joyce Rita Landry Schilling was called home to heaven surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 17,2021. Joyce was the second to youngest of seven children and was raised in Baton Rouge, LA. She is the daughter of Allie and Alice Landry of Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated from Istrouma High School and Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School in Baton Rouge. She worked as a nurse and in management at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, and retired from there. She also worked as an occupational health nurse for some years. She was married for 52 years to the late Louis Clement Schilling of Baton Rouge, LA. Louis and Joyce (Tuttie) had three children.

Joyce is survived by her son, Paul of Zionsville,PA. and his wife Judy; and her daughter, Rhonda Ann Schilling of Houston, TX.; daughter-in-law, Diane Schilling of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Nicholas Schilling of Pittsburg, PA., Patrick Schilling of Arlington, VA., Greg Schilling and wife, Courtney of Houston, TX., Aimee Schilling of New Orleans, LA.; three great granddaughters, Ellie Schilling, Grace Schilling, and Frances Schilling of Houston, TX and her sister Genevieve Milton, of Baker, LA.

She is preceded in death by her son, Keith William Schilling; her husband, Louis C. Schilling; her parents, and five siblings.

She was a devout Catholic. She loved her family and friends and nothing gave her greater pleasure than cooking and baking for them.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home. 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, January 21 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
