alignjustifyJoyce Reeves Bowman, aged 83, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 16, surrounded by her children. Born on August 11, 1926 in Green Forest, Arkansas to Chester V. and Belle Bishop Reeves, Joyce attended Green Forest Public Schools and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1948 with a degree in business and marketing. After graduation, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take a position in the Stanlin Oil Company royalty department as a
ision order analyst. It was in Tulsa at the corner of 5th and Boston during the winter of 1949 that she came upon a wet and hungry GI Bill college student named Richard V. Bowman. Somehow they hit it off and on September 1, 1951, Joyce and Richard were married. They set up housekeeping in Oklahoma City and there began a partnership that produced many children and much love. In 1953, they relocated to Jackson, Mississippi where they settled down for the duration and raise their family. Joyce was a member of Petrol and past president of The Petroleum Auxiliary of Jackson. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Jackson Public System and established the needlework department at Gayfers in Jackson and retired after 15 years of service. Joyce is survived by her children, Susan Bowman Hartsough of Owensboro, KY; Bruce Reeves Bowman of Baton Rouge, LA; Lynne Bowman Bulloch of Metairie, LA and John Alan Bowman of Franklinton, LA as well as 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 46 years; her eldest daughter, Victoria Bowman Scott and her grandson, David Heinrich Scott. Friends are invited to join her family in a visitationcelebration of her life on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 at Biaggis in the Renaissance at Colony Park, 970 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS.
