Joy Frances Braud, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born February 25, 1943. Joy worked for Fidelity Bank for seven years and later was employed by GM working in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans, and Dothan, Alabama before retiring as their Accounting Supervisor. After retirement, Joy spent seven years as the devoted in-home, caregiver to her mom before her death. Joy enjoyed a good and fulfilling life with her family and friends. She had many hobbies and passions. She was especially fond of listening to music on her 45s from her jukebox. She enjoyed playing many sports throughout her life, watching movies, cooking, working with stained glass, and painting with oils and acrylics. Joy loved retirement and kept herself busy with her home and yard projects and her pets. Many strays found safe shelter in her home through the years. She is remembered for her handiness with woodworking and would fix and maintain her home, yard, and cars well into her 80s.
Joy is proceeded in death by her outstanding mother, Sophie Ramirez Braud; her father, J.D. Braud; nephew, Doug Braud; and sister-in-law, Connie Smith Braud.
She is survived by brothers, Barry, Donald (Annette), and Denny (Bonnie) Braud. ‘Aunt T’ (the nickname given to Joy by the first grandchild in the family, Doug, and his mother) is also survived by her 25 nieces, nephews, her great-nieces and nephews, and her great-great nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Joy’s wishes, private services will be held at a later date. She will be inurned at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in the Mausoleum of Eternal Faith next to her mom. She always felt thankful and fortunate to be her mother’s daughter.
