Joseph Richard

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing into eternal life of Joseph Robert Richard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 19, 2016 at the Carpenter House at the age of 78. Robert, as he was known by his friends and family, was a native of Church Point, Louisiana. He was a gentle man known for his sense of humor and his humorous metaphors for every event in life. He worked with his hands as a carpenter and was known for his character, honesty and integrity. He will be missed and cherished by all those he left behind. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Madeline L. Richard and his children, Frank Gregory Richard and wife Judy, and Katherine R. Denny and husband Steve. He held a special place in his heart for his four grandchildren Hannah Castille Lee, John Adam Castille, Taylor Richard and wife Madison, and Caitlin Richard. He is also survived by his sister, Norma Johnson and two brothers, Rodney Richard and Carol Richard. He will meet his parents, Louis and Theresa Richard, and sister, Mary Lou Bihm in heaven.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 3- 8 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm. A Catholic Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 11:30 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., his burial following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Reception to follow at the home of Greg and Judy Richard. The family would like to thank the Carpenter House for his compassionate care in the last days of his life. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Joseph's Hospice of Baton Rouge, in care of The Carpenter House.
