Lefebvre Joseph "Joe" Lefebvre, Jr., 89, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Shreveport, LA.
A native and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA, Joe served in the United States Coast Guard during World War 2. He worked for WJBO radio station and then IBM Corporation until retirement at age 58. His lifetime pursuits included building and running a chicken farm for 15 years while at IBM, traveling all over the United States full time in several different RV's with his wife for over 20 years, watching purple martins in the assortment of bird condos in his yard, and fixing anything that broke wherever he went, as long as he had a screwdriver and some duct tape.
He was a devout Roman Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus. Married to the love of his life for over 65 years, his wife, Edith Delacroix Lefebvre, preceded him in death.
Their love affair created five daughters, Katie Gandy and husband Michael, Juliette Dean, Mary Loupe and husband Mark, Yvette Schittone, and Therese Atwell and husband Gordon; four sons, Ray Lefebvre, Tom Lefebvre and wife Susan, John Lefebvre and wife Eve, and Chris Lefebvre and wife Annalisa; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services include visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 5-8 p.m., and Friday, April 22, 2016, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge.
Graveside will be on Saturday, April 23, at 1:00 p.m., at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery, 7808 St. George Way, Baton Rouge.
